Introduction

Sand art is an artistic expression of individuals to create images using sand. It is achieved by applying sand to a surface and draw images by using bare hands. This form of animated arts has gained increasing publicity and recognition in recent years. Kseniya Simonova, a Ukrainian artist, brought this form of visual art to a new level when she won the Ukraine’s version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in August 2009 with her stunning performance...

We drew inspirations from the captivating art and decided to implement a digitalized version of it, using the available resources supported by the Interactive Media Lab (IML) in NUS. We hope to provide users with an experience tantamount to drawing sand with your bare hands, without the hassle of preparing sand which often makes a mess out of yourself. Some neat features are also created on top of basic drawing functions, only possible with a digital version!
